As Bishop Walkowiak announced earlier this year, it has been more than a decade since the Diocese of Grand Rapids underwent a pastoral planning process. It is now time to create an updated plan to assess more intentionally the needs and resources of our local church, along with exploring opportunities for growth and evangelization. This pastoral planning process is entitled “Rooted in Christ.” The process involves data collection, parish visits, and dialogue to identify challenges and opportunities facing our parishes, schools, and the diocese.
On Sunday, Jan. 12 at 10:10 a.m. (immediately following the 9:00 a.m. Mass) we will have a town hall in the Saints’ Room for anyone who would like to learn more about how this process will impact our parish. We kindly ask that you RSVP below if you plan to be in attendance.
- We will present the key findings for the Grand Rapids North Deanery and create an understanding of the present reality and projected future for our diocese.
- We will also discuss “possibilities for future ministry” and identify those that are priorities for our parish.
- The priorities that come out of our parish meeting will be brought back to the diocesan-wide planning committee later in January 2025.
