Baptism at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Community

The Sacrament of Baptism is a time to initiate new Christians into the Catholic faith – and St. Anthony of Padua welcomes all requests to celebrate this special occasion.

Parents wishing to have their child baptized at St. Anthony of Padua are expected to meet several criteria:

  • At least one of the child’s parents of the child must be a registered parishioner of St. Anthony and a practicing Catholic.
  • At least one of the child’s Godparents must be an active, practicing Catholic.
  • Parents are required to attend one Baptism preparation course, which is on a Sunday at 10:15 am. This class is offered five times a year at the church. The Baptism Class Schedule is below. This course will help the parents prepare for their child’s initiation into the Catholic Church.

Please note that we only have Baptism classes five times a year, so plan accordingly. You may take the case before your child is born or wait until after your child arrives. Please RSVP to the parish office at 616-453-8229 with the date of the class you are planning to attend:

All Baptism classes are held in Meeting Room C at 10:15 AM (after the 9:00 AM Mass).

  • Sunday, June 9 at 1:00 PM with Deacon Leo
  • Sunday, July 21 at 1:00 PM with Deacon Stan
  • Saturday, August 18 at 4:30 PM Mass
  • Sunday, September 15 at 1:00 PM with Deacon Leo
  • Sunday, October 13 at 1:00 PM with Deacon Stan
  • Sunday, November 10 at 9:00 AM Mass
  • Sunday, December 1 at 1:00 PM with Deacon Leo

Other celebrations (public or private) of the Sacrament of Baptism outside of Mass must be approved by the priest or deacon. If your child is of the Age of Reason (around 7 years old), they must go through the RCIA process. Please contact the Parish Office with questions and requests.
