About CSW

Catholic Schools Week (CSW) is the annual, nationwide celebration of Catholic education in the United States. Taking place from Jan. 25 – 31, Catholic Schools Week highlights the value and achievements of Catholic education through various events and activities.
At St. Anthony, we believe that our faith in Jesus Christ is the foundation and center of all we do. Paired with our mission to engage students in academic excellence and guide them to live as a reflection of Jesus, this special week is one of joyful celebration. We thank our parish community for their continuous prayers and support, our teachers and educators for their service and dedication to the mission of Catholic education, and you – our parents – for giving your students the gift of Catholic education.
At St. Anthony of Padua Catholic School, we have a full week of special events, activities, and dress-down themes planned. We invite you to participate in this week-long celebration, with details listed below.

All-school Service Project: Book Drive to GRPL’s “Friends of the Library”
This year’s CSW all-school service project is to support “Friends of the Library,” a group of volunteers within the Grand Rapids Public Library. We invite all families to join us in this act of service by donating gently used books. Students may bring the gently used books to their classrooms or the school office.
More information about this program can be found on the Grand Rapids Public Library website here: https://www.grpl.org/about/friends/
Saturday/Sunday, January 24/25: Celebrate Your Parish

Monday, January 26: Celebrate Your Community
Schedule:
- Board Games with Prayer Buddies – 2:30 p.m.
Dress: Light of Christ – Neon Day
Let’s fill the halls with brightness! Students are invited to wear neon or brightly colored clothing to celebrate being the “Light of Christ” in our world.
This joyful day is a reminder that our words and actions can shine with kindness, faith, and hope, allowing others to see them.
Tuesday, January 27: Celebrate Your Students
Schedule:
- Adoration: Prayer for those who provide us with our Catholic education
- Mass at the Cathedral of St. Andrew (Livestream at 10 a.m. in the church)
Dress: Crazy Hat Day with school uniform
Time to get creative! Students may wear a silly, colorful, or unique hat to school. (All hats should still be school-appropriate.)
Wednesday, January 28: Celebrate the Nation
Schedule:
- All-school treat from the 8th grade
Dress: Dress Like a Saint
Students are invited to dress like a saint as a joyful way to celebrate our faith and the holy men and women who lived it boldly. Students should research a saint who inspires them, dress to look like that saint, and be ready to share something they learned.
This is a beautiful way to learn about holy men and women who loved God and served others, and to reflect on how we can follow their example in our own lives. Those who prefer may dress as a St. Anthony student saint (uniform) and still complete the research about a saint that inspires them.
Thursday, January 29: Celebrating Vocations
Schedule:
- All-school Field Trip (Snack from Home and School)
Dress: Class Color Wars
Each prayer buddy team will be assigned a special color, and the goal is to show the most spirit! Students can wear shirts, pants, socks, accessories, and more in their team color – school-appropriate, of course.
This fun, friendly competition celebrates our school community while building unity, teamwork, and prayer buddy pride.
- Red – The Holy Spirit Flames: 8th grade, 2nd grade (Novitsky), Preschool
- Blue – Mary’s Mantle: 7th grade, 2nd grade (Domanski)
- Green – Growing in Faith and Knowledge: 6th grade, 3rd grade, DK
- Orange – Joyful Disciples: 5th grade, 1st grade
- Purple – The Royal Saints: 4th grade, Kindergarten
Friday, January 30: Celebrating Faculty, Staff, and Volunteers
Schedule:
- VIP Mass – 8:30 a.m. – Each student may welcome a “very important person” to visit their classroom, attend 8:30 a.m. Mass, and celebrate after Mass with a small classroom reception. We ask that each family complete this form no later than Jan. 26 so we can plan accordingly. If your child will NOT have a VIP, please complete the form and indicate “none” in the VIP name.
- All-school Assembly – 2 p.m.
Dress: School Spirit Explosion
Let’s go all-in on school pride! Students are encouraged to wear school colors or spirit wear to celebrate the blessing of being part of our Catholic school family. A Catholic Schools Week t-shirt will be coming home, and everyone should wear their CSW shirt – plus layer on all the spirit wear they have!
The goal is simple: fill the building with joy, unity, and gratitude for the community we share.
