8th grade student, Connor Luttrell, achieves top ten in Michigan for America & Me essay contest

Each year, our eighth grade students submit essays for the annual America & Me contest. This statewide contest was founded in 1968 by Farm Bureau Insurance and for over 50 years, more than 500,000 eighth graders from hundreds of Michigan schools have entered the writing contest. The student essays for this, the 55th annual contest, were based on the topic, “My Personal Michigan Hero.”  The final ranking of the winners was determined by a panel of judges comprised of Farm Bureau Insurance’s CEO Don Simon; and two teachers from a top 10 statewide school winner from the 2022-‘23 contest year.

Connor Luttrell’s essay submission successfully reached the final level of judging in the 55th annual America & Me Essay Contest and has been named one of the top 10 statewide winners for 2023-‘24! Placing sixth place is a tremendous achievement, considering the reach of this competition, extending to students from nearly 200 Michigan schools and 3000 fellow 8th grade students from Michigan junior high and middle schools.

The top 10 statewide winners are invited to spend an unforgettable day in Lansing on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, to be honored for their achievements.
